  10. Short drive to the dam, and the boat ramps on the river below the dam.
  11. Short drive to Bryson City where you can catch the Mountain Railway for a rail trip through the National Park. Beautiful
  12. Trout fishing in numerous local rivers. Bass, Bluegill, Crappie, and Walleye fishing in Lake Fontana.
  13. If you are a biker, only about 25 miles to the Tail of the Dragon – a famous twisting, curvy road through the mountains that even has a motel just for bikers.
  14. Just across the lake from the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, which borders the north side of Lake Fontana.
  15. About 30 miles to the town of Cherokee, on the Cherokee Reservation, with Harrah’s Casino Resort.
  16. 50 miles to Waynesville, North Carolina, a noted vacation spot with major tourism facilities.
  17. 95 miles to historic Franklin Tennessee. A very pretty, historical town.
  18. Close to the Georgia and Tennessee borders.
  19. 100 miles to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
