- Short drive to the dam, and the boat ramps on the river below the dam.
- Short drive to Bryson City where you can catch the Mountain Railway for a rail trip through the National Park. Beautiful
- Trout fishing in numerous local rivers. Bass, Bluegill, Crappie, and Walleye fishing in Lake Fontana.
- If you are a biker, only about 25 miles to the Tail of the Dragon – a famous twisting, curvy road through the mountains that even has a motel just for bikers.
- Just across the lake from the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, which borders the north side of Lake Fontana.
- About 30 miles to the town of Cherokee, on the Cherokee Reservation, with Harrah’s Casino Resort.
- 50 miles to Waynesville, North Carolina, a noted vacation spot with major tourism facilities.
- 95 miles to historic Franklin Tennessee. A very pretty, historical town.
- Close to the Georgia and Tennessee borders.
- 100 miles to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
